Vals
The town of Vals, located at 1,353 m above sea level at the end of Vals valley, is just a few minutes’ drive from Mühlbach. What’s enchanting about this place? Its location, for a start - it’s the most beautiful mountain village in South Tyrol, and has a unique mountain backdrop: the famous Fane Alm. It’s simply the perfect place for long, meandering hikes and bike excursions.
Meransen
On the sunny plateau above the town of Mühlbach lies the tiny settlement of Meransen. From here you can enjoy an amazing view over the Puster and Eisack Valleys, as well as (of course) the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The skiers’ paradise of Gitschberg Jochtal is nearby, too – where nature lovers are sure to get their money’s worth.
Brixen
Behind the high towers of the cathedral in Brixen, the oldest in South Tyrol, is the local Plose mountain, where any number of sports are on offer. From here you can marvel and the stunning panoramic view of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site, hike, and simply have a good time. The city has no shortage of culture waiting for you when you come off the slopes.
Rodeneck
At the end of the village of Rodeneck an outcrop of rock juts out over the Rienz gorge; there, you’ll find the old Rodenegg Castle, with unique frescos of Iwein. The highest plateau in Europe, the Rodenecker-Lüsner Alm, awaits, ready to welcome hikers and explorers among its meadows peppered with alpine huts.
Natz-Schabs
Five picturesque villages nestled in fairy-tale forests, amazing landscapes and apple orchards make up the Natz-Schabs apple plateau surrounded by the edges of the Rienz gorge. An exciting trip across will allow you to discover the forces of nature which have shaped it over millennia.
S. Andrea
Located at an altitude of 960 m above sea level on the sunny slopes of Plose, a mountain perfect for skiing and relaxing, St. Andrä offers breathtaking views over Brixen and the Eisack Valley. Whether you’re young or old, looking to relax or to be active, you’re in the right place here.
Terenten

Terenten is on a plateau above the Puster Valley, at 1,210 metres above sea level. Locals call it the sunshine village because of its sunny location and, here, old customs and traditions live on. In the summer the best way to experience the local nature is on foot. It’s easy to be an outdoorsy, active person here!
Lüsen
In this village at the end of the valley you can experience unspoiled, traditional South Tyrolean life, so much so you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported back in time. There’s a lot of accommodation on offer, ranging from traditional mountain farms with holiday accommodation, through farms with petting zoos and wellness facilities, to luxury hotels.
Villnöss
The original Villnöss Valley and the Geisler group are in the middle of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage site. Discover Villnöss Valley in the summer. Endless nature, endless culture: Feldthurns can be found in the Eisack Valley, and is the perfect place to set off on a long hike along the popular Kastanienweg. Along the way you’ll discover castles, cloisters and churches, as well as the neighbouring communities of Villanders and Barbian. The hiking trails around the Feldthurner meadow are particularly stunning. There are little mountain huts to pop into for refreshments, open all year: treat yourself to some traditional South Tyrolean delicacies.
